– New Year's Message 2008 –
This New Year will be a great one for humanity—great in the power of change that is occurring in the world and great in the opportunities it holds for individuals, groups and nations to see the need to work together. For the Earth is changing. Humanity now has impacted the world to such a great degree that there will be great difficulties, and these difficulties will be emerging each year as the impact of humanity upon the world and the world’s impact upon humanity grows and escalates.
This will be a great year—a great year for change and challenge and opportunity. But you can only appreciate this greatness if you see your life within the context of being of service to the world and to humanity. If you can recognize the reality that you were sent into the world to serve the world in a specific way, if you can gain this vantage point and cultivate this awareness, which the world itself cannot give you, then you can see that this year will be great—a year of change, a year where many signs will be given about the direction that humanity must go and the difficulties that lie ahead.
It is a year that calls for human responsibility and cooperation. It is a year that can call you and others out of your self-preoccupation, out of petty concerns and obsessions, a year that can remind you that you are in the world for a greater purpose. Beyond meeting your basic needs, this greater purpose awaits you and the circumstances of the world will call it forth, for that is the power of the signs that the world can provide for you. Watch these signs. Heed them. But do not come to conclusions quickly, for the signs must build as if pieces of a puzzle were coming together—signs of what is coming, signs of what you must do in your own life to prepare and signs of what you can do yourself to strengthen others and to be a force for good in a world that will be undergoing tremendous change.
In this coming year, there will be tragedies as well, as many more people are being affected by the Great Waves of Change—by degradation of the environment, by the effects of violent weather, by the reality that your food supplies are diminishing, as are other many fundamental resources.
While these things can frighten you, they can also prepare you if you can look at them with courage and with objectivity. Then you will see that indeed these are great times that you are living in—times that call for a greater purpose that you carry unknowingly within yourself.
Great times create great individuals and great relationships. The Greater Power that is within each person does not arise under normal circumstances. It must be stimulated. It must be ignited. It must have a catalyst on the outside to fully emerge within you.
So do not condemn the world for its difficulties or people for their errors. But instead see what is coming. See the opportunity to contribute to the world in many different ways—from the simplest act to things that are more profound and long lasting.
This is your time, you see. You have come into the world for these times. You did not go through all of the difficulty of entering this world and going through childhood and adolescence simply to run away from the world or to hide and pretend that you are happy and comfortable. For these are your times. These are the times that will call out of you the greatness and the gifts that you have come to give. They require circumstances to be compelling, and the circumstances to come will be compelling.
Be careful here not to fall into dismay or discouragement. Many people around you will become cynical. They will become negative and feel hopeless ad helpless. But that is not your calling. Be careful then. Do not allow yourself to respond in this way, which requires no courage and no integrity on your part. But instead see that you have come into the world for such times, for such challenges and such opportunities. Your Spiritual Family has sent you into the world to be in the world at this time, to face what will be occurring at this time and to contribute in a unique way within these times. So why complain when in fact the circumstances of the world have the power to initiate Knowledge within you and to call forth the power that God has given to you to be given to the world?
This is a very different approach, a very different perspective than a purely personal perspective, which is always concerned about safety, security and personal acquisition. This perspective recognizes that you have a deeper mind within you, a deeper awareness. You are not this frail, fallible, foolish person that you have sometimes been. You are something greater than this by far. And the great circumstances that are coming, the Waves of Change that are now impacting humanity, will call this out of you. And with it a strength that you never knew that you had, a strength that you have only felt perhaps very momentarily, here and there, throughout the course of your life so far.
This is a great time to be in the world, and if contribution is your focus, well, it is a very confirming time to be in the world. But if you are only afraid for yourself, if you are only given to your fears and anxieties, it will seem overwhelming. It will seem confusing. You will not know what to do. You will be exasperated. And you will follow others who are more fearful than you.
So you do have a choice in this matter of how you will respond to the Great Waves of Change that are coming and that are already here in the world, impacting the human family in so many ways. Food, water, climate—all these things will have a growing impact in the coming year and in the years to come. Do not be focused on some future date as if it is especially unique, for the future will be determined by what people do now to such a large extent still.
It is not your purpose to be a victim of the world. It is your purpose to be a contributor to the world. It is not your purpose simply to consume as much as you possibly can. It is your purpose to serve humanity and all living things in this world in a beneficial way.
Knowledge within you knows what you are here to do and who you need to engage with and what will need to be done as time goes on, so you do not have to worry about these things, you see. But your ability to look out on the horizon of your life and not to be consumed with what you want and what you are afraid of, but to look and see what is coming, to look and see what is happening with as much objectivity as you can. And remembering always, and reminding yourself always, that you are here for a greater purpose, and that what is happening in the world is connected to that purpose. And out of this connection in time will come a very unique calling for you to serve in a unique way.
But right now, you need to look and see and be open—without fear, without preference, without hope, without despair—but looking clearly to see, watching the signs. The signs will not be subtle. Signs at the level of the world are not subtle, but you must still look for them to see them, for they will be missed by many people.
This then is how you should approach this New Year—with clarity, with purpose, with discernment and objectivity. Be especially aware of what you must do to begin to prepare your own life for a future that will be unlike the past. The little things. You begin with little things, and you build from there—where you live, how you travel, where you work. Are these things going to be able to be sustained into the future? Are you where you need to be geographically? Are you with the people you need to be with? Are you doing the things you really need to be doing right now?
For you are living in the moment and preparing for the future, always—no matter where you are or what you are doing, no matter what your beliefs and attitude. You are either really being in the moment, or you are not. You are either really preparing for the future, or you are not. But you cannot change the fundamental responsibility here.
The New Message from God has been sent into the world to prepare you for the great change that is coming to the world. It is a lifeboat for humanity if it can be clearly understood and if its teaching can be wisely applied.
See the connection between the great Message that God has sent into the world and what is happening in the world itself, and you will see that one is a calling and the other is a response. See that you are standing at the prow of the ship, watching the horizon, prepared for whatever may occur, and always working on your life to make it clear, simple and effective.
It is a time now where you must be present in the moment to see and to hear and to follow Knowledge within yourself. And you must also prepare for the future—laying store for the future, comprehending the future and recognizing what you must do in your own life in connection with the future you are seeing. It is not a time to be committed to getting what you want. It is a time to be committed to experiencing what you know. And the world in all of its difficulty and opportunity will assist you now, for the time has come.
Remember that the power of Knowledge is with you. Remember that there is a New Message from God in the world, for the protection and the advancement of humanity. Remember that you are not alone in seeing what you see. Remember that you came for this time. You came for these opportunities. And you came to meet this great need.
